11:00 – 13:00 Porkkala
Porkkala is a somewhat isolated peninsula which hasn’t lost its tranquility and magic. This year it was nominated for the 40th national park of Finland. Luckily for us, it didn’t get elected as the amount of visitors would’ve gone through the roof. Now it remains a destination for outdoor fanatics who camp by the sea shore, enjoy nature travel and tranquility. We’ll take our time exploring the cliffs that dive straight into the Baltic Sea. At noon we’ll prepare together a lunch by the camp fire. The lunch might be salmon, meatballs or maybe veggie pats according to your preferences.
14:00 – 16:30 Meiko
Meiko is a wilderness area not unlike its well-known cousin Nuuksio. However, it lacks the infrastructure and thus the crowds of Nuuksio. When comparing these two wilderness areas, we much prefer Meiko because of its calmness and serenity. For us Meiko resembles Lapland with its remote lakes and green swamps. We’ll do a short (4 km) walk in relaxed pace on a path that circulates couple of lakes, a few bogs and tiny streams.
17:00 Return to Helsinki
We drop you off at your hotel. Maybe you’d like to finish the day by eating a traditional Finnish dinner in a cozy restaurant.
